The work of the Holy Spirit today PDF Print E-mail
The Holy Spirit works in the life of the unbeliever to teach him that he is a sinner and needs the Lord Jesus Christ as his own personal Saviour. Unbelief is the sin that prevents a person from coming to Christ for his salvation (John 3: 18).

The Holy Spirit tells an unbeliever that God is righteous and that no man can live up to the standards that God requires (John 16: 7-11). After this, the Holy Spirit teaches the sinner that there is hope in Christ Jesus; a person can be justified by faith and declared righteous in him (Rom 1: 16, 17; 3: 22; 4: 5).

The Holy Spirit tells the sinner that the Prince of this World, Satan, has been judged at the cross and is doomed to be eternally punished (Eph 2: 1, 2; Rev 19: 20; 20: 10). The Holy Spirit works in the life of the Christian in regeneration (Titus 3: 5). A Christian was spiritually dead but now he is spiritually alive as a result of this a Christian becomes a new creation (2 Cor 5: 17).

The Holy Spirit is the pledge of our eternal salvation; he comes to live inside each believer in this special way (1 Cor 3: 16; 6: 19; 2 Cor 6: 16; Eph 1: 14). Every believer experiences the Baptism of the Holy Spirit at the moment of their conversion (Rom 6: 1-4; 1 Cor 12: 13). The Holy Spirit teaches, intercedes, leads and anoints the Christian (John 14: 26; Rom 8: 26; Gal 5: 18; Acts 13: 2). This is not an exhaustive treatise on the Work of the Holy Spirit but defines some ways that our teaching is different.
