Dr. Leonard Smith (Principal)
EdD, MEd, MA, BEd, Dip Teach, Grad Dip, Theology

Len has been involved with teaching and training for over twenty years, prior to this he worked as a civil engineer in local government. He and his wife Merilyn attend Mascot Christian Fellowship. Len has a passion for working with Indigenous peoples and is a regular visitor the Northern Territory. Len has a desire to see Emmaus grow in order to gain status to offer Bachelor and Master degree courses as well develop vocational courses to suit a large variety of learners.

 

 

Dr. Theron Young (Academic Dean)
Ph.D, M.A., M.A., B.A.

Theron served as a missionary educator for nearly twenty years in Portugal, where he lectured and coordinated graduate-level programs at two evangelical Tertiary Institutions in the greater Lisbon area.  He has taught as a visiting lecturer in Brazil, the Ukraine and Latvia and as an adjunct lecturer in the United States.Theron served on the translation revision committee for the modern Portuguese-language Bible version A Boa Nova (The Gospel), which was published in 2009 (Portuguese Bible Society).  He is a contributor to the NIV Archaeology Study Bible (Zondervan Publishers) and has published articles in  number of evangelical academic journals. 

As well as holding the role of Academic Dean, Theron specialises in the areas of Old Testament and Biblical Languages.

Dr Peter Yu

PhD (Cand), DCC, MA, M. Div, M. Th, Grad. Dip.CC, BTh (Hons), BA

Dr Peter has been teaching for 11 years before moving to Emmaus Bible College in 2011. He generally teaches subjects involving Christian Theology and Christian Counselling. He has been serving Korean churches in Sydney as a pastor. And he has worked at The Korean institute of Christianity in Australia as a general director.

As well as holding the role of coordinator for MA course at Emmaus Bible College, Peter specialises in the areas of Systematic Theology and Christian Counseling. He especially is interested in the doctrine of the church in systematic theology and also family counseling in Christian Counseling.

Xavier Lakshmanan

PhD (Cand), MTh, BD, BTh

Specialised in systematic theology, Xavier has been teaching theology, hermeneutics, ethics, and homiletics for the last 14 years in several theological institutions in India and Australia. Xavier has published several articles in theology. At present, he is involved with a research project in theology and hermeneutic philosophy.

 

 

Dr. Michael Leary

Dr. Joe Matthew Thomas
Ph.D., M.W.S., M.Div., B.Sc.

Dr. Thomas has been teaching theology, religious studies, and ethics for the last eleven years in Ohio. As a professor of theology, he has participated in several ecclesiastical and academic projects both in North America and Asia-Pacific region. Dr. Thomas has served four years as an educational missionary in Nigeria. He has developed and taught a number of courses in the graduate and postgraduate programs in theology and mission. Dr. Thomas’ works are published in academic journals on a regular basis. His current research is in public theology

 

 

 

Dr. Pat Harrison
PhD, M St, M Div, ThM, MA, M Ed, BA (Hons), Dip Ed, MACE

Having grown up in Armidale, Dr Harrison has immersed herself in the fields of education, theology and linguistics for most of her adult life.

After commencing her professional life as a school teacher, she resigned from this position to undertake theological and mission studies. This lead the commencement of her time as a theological lecturer in both Australian and the USA.

Throughout her life, Dr Harrison’s underlying passion has been to spread the message of Salvation to all parts of the world. This passion has lead to her work in some 76 countries to date.

As her first introduction to Biblical and Theological studies was via the Emmaus Correspondence school material, Pat joins the faculty in Semester II excited to be part of an organisation that ignited her passion for theological study.

Graeme Janes BBus
General Manager

Graeme joined the college after previously working in senior management within the commercial sector. Prior to this Graeme worked for 15 years in full time ministry in a role that encompassed both the development of curriculum and training programs within the vocational sector. He is married to Janine and together they have 3 teenage children. Their kids and church take up much of their spare time.

Elizabeth Webb
Librarian

Elizabeth commenced work at Emmaus in 1998 as Librarian. Working at Emmaus continues to be a challenge and I thank God for the opportunity to serve Him here. She is married to Andrew Webb (student ’81-2) and have four children. They attend Riverstone Assembly.

Chris Haeusler

Chris Haeusler, BTh
Registrar

Chris joined Emmaus in 2010 after working for numerous years in similar roles for other Institutions. Prior to this career change, Chris took timeout to undertake his Bachelor of Theology full time.

Robyn Buckle
Administration Assistant

Robyn has been working at Emmaus since March 2007, a few weeks before the move to Beecroft Road,  and works at the college on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I attend West Pennant Hills Community Church and work in the office there when not at Emmaus. I live locally with my daughter, Lisa
